Tasman parakeets (Cyanoramphus cookii) endemic to Norfolk Island, are amongst the rarest birds in the South Pacific. My research documents the patterns of seasonal habitat use of Tasman parakeets and quantifies their degree of preference of different habitats. This research is crucial as Norfolk Island is undergoing habitat restoration at a large scale, therefore understanding the key habitats for Tasman parakeets can help guide the long-term survival of the species in a changing matrix of habitats. My research is also guiding the future translocation of Tasman parakeets to Phillip Island, by detailing the critical feeding resources required by these parakeets.
